Launch

Smirnoff Vodka brings back to the North American market the Spicy Tamarind, a spicy vodka cocktail. Taking advantage of the large concentration of Mexicans in the United States, the launch hits the shelves in time for the celebrations of Día de los Muertos, one of the most important dates in Mexico. The limited-edition bottle combines the energy and vibrancy of holiday celebrations. The packaging has brightly colored labels that, under black light, glow in the dark and, when the drink is cold, display the message “solo y fria” (alone and cold).

Packing

The new packaging “gives a sign of the vibrancy of Mexican culture,” said Smirnoff's US manager, Gustavo Salguero. “Sweet and Spicy originally gained popularity as one of the top flavors in Mexico, and we look forward to bringing it to more consumers over 21 in the United States looking to connect with their heritage during some of the most festive times of the year.” , said Salguero.

Smirnoff Spicy Tamarind combines the sweet taste of tamarind with spicy Mexican pepper, finishing with a lemony note and a hint of salt.

Spicy Tamarind first launched in 2017 for a month and will now be available year-round in Arizona, California, Colorado, Illinois, New Mexico and Texas. The drink will also hit stores for a limited time in 13 other states: Arkansas, Kansas, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Jersey, North Dakota, South Dakota, Vermont and Wisconsin.
