bottle beer

The Brazilian beer market gains a new version of packaging: the first glass growler produced in Brazil. The returnable bottle with a capacity of two liters, developed by Owens Illinois, was created, according to the glassmaker, to offer a solution that provides the economical and sustainable consumption of beer. “Because it is returnable, the growler avoids the consumption and disposal of packaging.

In addition, it is also advantageous in terms of cost-effectiveness, as it allows the drink to be sold at lower prices”, explains Daniel Amaral, Marketing, Innovation and New Product Development manager at OI.

Type of glass packaging

The glassworks had already noticed the growing demand from breweries for growlers, but identified that no company produced this type of glass packaging in Brazil, forcing producers to import the bottles or opt for versions in other materials.

It was then that the idea of developing a model that met the needs of the market was born. “We have always been close to specialty beer producers, with a wide variety of glasses and bottles for the craft beer segment.

Best packaging solutions

We created the glass growler to be one of the best beer packaging solutions on the market. Another advantage is that, as it is made of glass, the bottle preserves the drink's original flavor and freshness”, says Daniel.
