Nestlé and Mars team up in France to develop chemical recycling of plastics

Small, flexible and laminated packaging

Nestlé and Mars have teamed up to develop an innovative plastics chemical recycling industry in France. The project has a partnership with Citeo, a company that works to reduce the environmental impact of packaging; Total, producer and distributor of oil, gas and electricity products; and Recycling Technologies, a provider of plastics recycling technology.

The consortium will examine the technical and economic feasibility of recycling complex plastic waste such as small, flexible and laminated packaging. Currently, these products are considered non-recyclable and therefore are incinerated or disposed of in landfills.
